The video-sharing platform TikTok has been home to many bizarre and ridiculous trends. Recently, the chroming challenge trend took the life of a 9-year-old girl, and now a Chinese well-known influence has left the world after taking part in a PK or Player Kill challenge on May 16.

PK is a competition between two people who compete online trying to determine who drinks more alcohol. Baiju is like vodka, a type of strong and clear alcohol that has between 35% and 60% alcohol in it. According to the reports, Sanqiange drank at least 7 bottles of Baiju during the stream and died 12 hours after that stream on May 16.

Who was Sanqiange The Chinese Influencer

Sanqiange was a young TikToker from the village of Qidaogou. He was 34 years old and his real name was Wang Moufeng and also popular by the name moniker Brother Three Thousand (Brother 3000). He had over 44K followers on TikTok.

Sanqiange lived in a village called Qidaogou in a place called Guanyun County, which is in the city of Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province. Sadly, he participated in a challenge that ended up taking his life. The challenge happened at a house close to where he lived.

There is no information available online regarding his profession or his personal life. Another Chinese influencer named Granpa Ming talked about Sanqiange’s attempt at the PK or Player Kill Challenge live which became the cause of his death.

He told “Sanqiange played four rounds of PK in total. He [drank] one in the first round. He drank two plus three more Red Bulls energy drinks during the second round.” He further said, “In the third round, he didn’t lose. In the fourth round, he [drank] four which makes it a total of seven [baijiu] and three Red Bull”.

After Sanqiange’s death, the Shangyou News interviewed his friend Mr. Zhao who explained how the challenge works and what happened to Sanqiange after the livestream. He told the press “PK” challenges involve one-on-one battles in which influencers compete with each other to win rewards and gifts from viewers, and often involve punishments for the loser.”

Talking about Sanqiange he said “I don’t know how much he had consumed before I tuned in. But in the latter part of the video, I saw him finish three bottles before starting on a fourth.” “The PK games ended at around 1 a.m. and by 1 p.m., (when his family found him) he was gone,” he added.

Later he goes on to say that “Recently, [Wang] hasn’t been drinking. When he has nothing to do, he just plays mahjong with his classmates and keeps healthy. He has already been trying to drink as little as possible, I don’t know why he drank again on the 16th.”

Last year, the people in charge of TV and radio rules in the country made a rule that says kids under 16 can’t give money to streamers as a way of showing support. They also made a rule that says kids can’t watch or use streaming platforms after 10 pm. The related ministry also banned 31 misbehaviors by livestreamers.
